Not so Extreme Chair Makeover

Years ago I bought a set of eight chairs at an antique furniture auction for $7 apiece. They look like this.So in my so called Better Homes and Gardens House I decided they needed slip covers to hide the unattractive faux brocade vinyl that covers the chairs.

After living with three toddlers for the last few years they are now looking like this:The wood is also worse for wear so I painted the wood black to see if I liked it.I do. However, I still have those pesky toddlers bouncin' all around and messin' things up!

So the slip covers are going to have to be put up for a few years and I will have to live with the not so great vinyl underneath. Unless somebody has any great ideas.....????? If you do shoot me an email!
